German airline Condor has announced a new interline agreement with U.S. carrier Southwest Airlines. This collaboration is set to enhance connectivity for travelers, beginning with service out of Seattle on January 19.
Expansion of Routes
The partnership is not limited to Seattle. As Condor resumes routes to several major U.S. cities from Frankfurt this spring, connections will also become available in Boston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Portland, and San Francisco. This expansion aims to provide passengers with convenient travel options between Europe and various points across North America.
Booking Options
Passengers can now book interline itineraries through Condor’s official website, as well as via travel agencies and online travel agencies (OTAs). However, booking for Condor interline tickets is not yet available on Southwest.com, following this year’s trend where Southwest began interlining with carriers like Philippine Airlines, Icelandair, Eva Air, and China Airlines. This marks a shift in Southwest’s longstanding policy of avoiding cross-carrier partnerships.
Strategic Partnerships
Southwest Airlines becomes Condor’s second U.S. partner, following an established codeshare relationship with Alaska Airlines. This strategic alignment allows travelers more options for seamless intercontinental travel, especially for those flying from major western U.S. cities.
Benefits for Travelers
This interline agreement is expected to provide various benefits for passengers, including the ease of making connections between different airlines and greater flexibility in scheduling flights. As Condor expands its U.S. route offering, the partnership with Southwest creates the potential for more robust travel itineraries for international travelers.
