Wilderness is set to unveil an exclusive eight-bed luxury safari camp on the pristine Magashi Peninsula in Akagera National Park, Rwanda, in September. This new retreat, named Wilderness Magashi Peninsula, features a thoughtfully designed four-bed villa alongside two separate twin rooms, all strategically located 200 meters apart. Each accommodation offers stunning views of Lake Rwanyakazinga and the majestic Mutumba Mountains.
The camp’s elevated design allows guests to fully appreciate the local wildlife, which includes hippos and crocodiles in the lake, as well as buffalo and elephants roaming across the peninsula. Families are welcome, although those with children aged 6 to 12 are required to book private vehicle use for safari excursions.
Luxe Accommodations
The luxurious villa comprises two twin en-suite bedrooms that are interconnected by a communal living space, which includes a lounge, dining area, and kitchen. Additionally, there is a versatile en-suite room that can function as a gym, children’s room, or office, thereby accommodating up to six guests. Guests at the villa will enjoy a fully private experience, complete with dedicated in-villa dining and personalized guiding services.
The camp is located within a private concession area of Akagera National Park, offering guests access to ten diverse habitat types such as open plains, woodlands, swamps, and lakes. This rich ecosystem is home to a variety of African wildlife, including lions, rhinos, and elephants.
Signature Experiences
Wilderness Magashi Peninsula aims to provide unparalleled experiences for its guests. Activities include private water-based excursions on a pontoon or swamp cruiser, catch-and-release fishing, guided night drives, and rooftop Star Beds for unforgettable overnight stargazing.
This new luxury lodge complements the recently opened Bisate Reserve located near Volcanoes National Park, allowing travelers to seamlessly blend gorilla trekking with traditional safari adventures in a single, memorable itinerary.
