On April 27, 2025, Victory Cruise Lines celebrated the official christening of the Victory I in Toronto, a vessel designed specifically for the Great Lakes. The ceremony was a heartfelt occasion, marked by Emily Coleman, the daughter of company founders John and Claudette Waggoner, breaking a bottle of Crown Royal Canadian Whisky on the ship’s bow, with Toronto’s iconic skyline in the backdrop.
The Return of Victory Cruise Lines
John Waggoner, CEO of Victory Cruise Lines, was present to commemorate the launch, reflecting on their significant milestone achieved through the acquisition of the Victory I and its sister ship, Victory II, nearly a year prior. “Today is a celebration of our commitment to reviving the Victory line on the Great Lakes,” he stated. “It wouldn’t have been possible without our dedicated team and the unwavering support from those who believe in our vision.”
Upcoming Voyages and Unique Experiences
Victory Cruise Lines has announced a robust schedule for 2025, featuring 33 departures that will navigate all five Great Lakes in one seamless voyage. Notably, this is the only cruise line to offer docking at Chicago’s downtown Navy Pier, with Victory II set to be christened on May 12, 2025. The ships will operate 10-15 night voyages from key cities including Chicago, Toronto, Milwaukee, and Montreal until October, promising diverse routes and stunning views.
Impact on Local Tourism
As Kelly Jackson, representing Destination Toronto, noted, “Victory Cruise Lines will attract thousands of visitors to Toronto, encouraging exploration of the city’s vibrant neighborhoods, rich culture, and diverse cuisine.” The cruise line’s return not only enhances tourism but also supports local jobs and businesses, reinforcing Toronto’s importance as a pivotal port in the Great Lakes cruise market.
Onboard Dining Experience
Guests aboard the Victory I will be treated to an expansive dining experience featuring three distinct options, including the innovative Tuscan Stone Grill. This interactive concept allows diners to cook their meals on hot stones at their tables, offering a unique culinary experience with breathtaking views of the Great Lakes. Created by Victory Cruise Lines’ COO, David William Kelly, and Dietmar Wertanzl from Anglo-Eastern Leisure, this upscale dining option is a noteworthy addition to the cruise experience.
Join the Journey
With a focus on quality, culture, and immersive experiences, Victory Cruise Lines is set to redefine cruising in the Great Lakes. Travelers looking for an unforgettable adventure can look forward to the launch of the Victory I and all the amazing opportunities that await them aboard.
