CALGARY — WestJet has achieved a significant breakthrough in air travel connectivity by marking the installation of WestJet Wi-Fi presented by TELUS on its 100th aircraft. This accomplishment positions WestJet as the airline with the largest fleet of 737 aircraft outfitted with cutting-edge Starlink technology, revolutionizing the in-flight experience for passengers.
The Future of In-Flight Connectivity
“We’re entering a new era of inflight internet in Canada, giving our guests the power to unlock world-class connectivity from 35,000 feet,” remarked Samantha Taylor, WestJet Executive Vice-President and Chief Experience Officer. This innovative service represents a ‘game-changer’ for travelers, as it offers unparalleled connectivity across its mainline fleet, exclusively provided by WestJet in Canada.
Enhanced Passenger Experience
WestJet Wi-Fi is complimentary for WestJet Rewards members, making it even more appealing for loyal customers. The high-speed, ultra-low latency connectivity is powered by Starlink and has been rolling out since February 2025. The rapid deployment is ahead of schedule, with WestJet committed to equipping all its Boeing 737-800 and 737-8 MAX aircraft by year-end.
Positive Guest Feedback
Since the rollout began, the response from guests has been overwhelmingly positive. “We have been hearing from guests how they love the connectivity,” Taylor continued. WestJet has actively engaged with travelers sharing their experiences online, encouraging more feedback to enhance this innovative service.
Celebrating the Milestone
In celebration of the milestone reached with its 100th installation, WestJet will conduct festivities throughout October. Passengers flying on both WestJet and Sunwing aircraft are invited to share their in-flight Wi-Fi experiences on social media. To incentivize participation, some lucky travelers may even win surprise WestJet points or complimentary flights.
