Travel Leaders Network has made significant strides in expanding its SNAP booking platform in Canada, recently adding the capability for air bookings. This enhancement allows Canadian travel advisors to book flights alongside other travel services, which previously only included hotels and car rentals. The integration of air bookings means that commissionable fares are now clearly marked, and client management tools are also incorporated for user convenience.
This announcement highlights a transformative shift in how Canadian agencies can operate, shared during Travel Leaders Network’s annual event, EDGE (Educate, Discover, Gather, Evolve), held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. John Lovell, CTC, President of Travel Leaders Network, emphasized the importance of this new feature for agencies, stating, "With air bookings now available in Canada, every one of our agencies can fully leverage SNAP. Non-GDS advisors need powerful, simple tools, and Travel Leaders Network’s SNAP delivers." He also pointed out that U.S. agencies booked a remarkable US$7.6 million in air in the first quarter alone, indicating strong potential demand from Canadian members.
Launched in 2024, SNAP operates on the Sabre platform and is designed as a user-friendly alternative to traditional Global Distribution Systems (GDS). Canadian advisors had been utilizing SNAP for hotel and car bookings prior to this update. Key functionalities include passenger profile storage, trip quoting, and usage tracking through an Agent Dashboard, all aimed at streamlining the booking process.
In preparation for the air booking launch, a select group of agents participated in a testing phase to refine the functionality, ensuring it aligns with the unique needs of the Canadian market. Travel Leaders Network has also announced plans to beta test air options with Air Canada starting March 17, 2025.
Christine Jones, Vice President of Travel Leaders Network Canada, expressed enthusiasm about the new capability: "It’s exciting for Canada to finally have full access to SNAP. Now our members can use all its features to grow their business and better serve their clients." She extended gratitude to the beta testers for their contributions in tailoring SNAP to meet the demands of Canadian agencies.
In addition to air travel, SNAP also integrates with Cruise Complete through a seamless single sign-on from Agent Universe, allowing travel advisors to manage a comprehensive variety of travel components from one central platform.
