Qantas Expands Routes for Winter Travel Between Canada and Australia
Qantas Airways is set to enhance its service from Canada to Australia during the Northern Winter season, accommodating increased demand from both Australians seeking adventure in Canada’s prime ski resorts and Canadians eager to bask in the sun and vibrant atmosphere of Australia’s summer.
Expanded Schedule for Vancouver to Sydney Route
Commencing January 1 to January 24, 2026, the Australian airline will elevate the frequency of its Vancouver to Sydney route from three flights per week to a daily service. Subsequent adjustments will see the frequency drop to five flights per week from January 25 to February 8, and then taper off to four flights weekly from February 9 until the end of March 2026. These changes will enable a staggering 68% increase in available seats for travelers during the peak winter months.
Airline Comfort and Connectivity
All flights on this route will be serviced by the modern Boeing 787-9 aircraft, which are known for their comfort. “Australians are drawn to Canada for its breathtaking ski slopes, and this also provides an ideal chance for Canadians to trade snow for sunshine and discover Australia’s summer offerings,” stated Cam Wallace, Qantas Group CEO International.
Wallace further emphasized the benefits of the additional flights for Canadian travelers: “This enables our customers to experience the diverse attractions Sydney and New South Wales presents—from lounging at Bondi Beach to touring the acclaimed wineries in the Southern Highlands, as well as exploring the remarkable Blue Mountains landscapes.”
Seamless Travel Connections for International Guests
Canadian travelers flying into Sydney can seamlessly connect through Qantas’ extensive domestic network, reaching over 60 destinations across the continent. These include iconic experiences from the Great Barrier Reef to the celebrated beaches of Sydney, and even the esteemed wine regions of Victoria.
Conversely, Australian passengers journeying through Vancouver can extend their travels across Canada thanks to Qantas’ partnership with WestJet, offering straightforward one-stop connections to major cultural centers and skiing hubs like Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, and Victoria.
