Marriott International has launched its innovative Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy, a strategic move following its acquisition of Postcard Cabins and collaboration with Trailborn Hotels last year.
This newly unveiled portfolio features over 1,200 Postcard Cabins located in 29 U.S. destinations, alongside a selection of Trailborn properties situated in iconic locations such as the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Grand Canyon, and Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.
Marriott promises that the Outdoor Collection provides guests with both outdoor-themed and design-oriented accommodations while ensuring standard hotel amenities such as hot running water and dedicated restrooms. Whether you’re seeking a rustic escape or a comfortable retreat, the Outdoor Collection caters to diverse preferences.
Explore Marriott Bonvoy Outdoors
Alongside the Outdoor Collection, Marriott has introduced Marriott Bonvoy Outdoors, a comprehensive digital platform that empowers travelers to search for and book accommodations centered around outdoor activities, such as skiing, hiking, surfing, diving, and paddling. This platform encompasses more than 450 Marriott hotels and 50,000 Homes & Villas properties, complemented by a curated selection of tours and activities tailored for adventure seekers.
The Marriott Bonvoy Outdoors platform not only features the Outdoor Collection but also highlights distinctive properties like the W Verbier in Switzerland, the Moxy Banff in Canada, and the Grand Bohemian Lodge Asheville, part of the Autograph Collection in North Carolina. These options present a fusion of luxury and outdoor exploration, appealing to a wide range of travelers.
Engaging Outdoor Adventures with the Drop Pin Challenge
To celebrate the launch of the platform, Marriott has partnered with TV personality and outdoors enthusiast Dylan Efron to initiate the Drop Pin Challenge. This fun treasure hunt involves locating physical pins strategically placed in 20 outdoor destinations across the U.S. and Canada, including Yellowstone, the Catskills, Maui, Banff, and Whistler. Participants can access clues and coordinates on the Marriott Bonvoy Outdoors website, leading them to outdoor adventures where they can scan the pins.
In an exciting twist, the first 50 individuals to scan each pin will earn 10,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, with a total of 10 million points available throughout the event. This initiative adds an interactive layer to travelers’ outdoor experiences, encouraging exploration and engagement with nature.
Marriott’s latest Outdoor Collection and the Marriott Bonvoy Outdoors platform come amidst a growing investment trend in outdoor hospitality. As various hotel brands pivot towards catering to travelers’ increasing desire for nature-based experiences, last year saw Hyatt Hotels Corp. team up with Under Canvas, while Hilton linked with AutoCamp to offer Airstream suites and luxury tents through its booking channels. Additionally, new entrants like Outbound Hotels, Loge Camps, and Field & Stream Lodge Co. have also emerged in this burgeoning sector.
