TORONTO — Los Cabos is set to enhance its position as a premier travel destination as it welcomes an increased number of direct flights from eastern Canada. Starting in January, Los Cabos will benefit from approximately 43 nonstop flights per week, marking a peak winter airlift that underscores the area’s growing popularity among Canadian travelers.
This surge in air service will connect visitors from eight Canadian cities, including Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton, Kelowna, Victoria, and Winnipeg.
Rodrigo Esponda, Managing Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board, noted that while Western Canada has long been a robust market for the destination, the eastern provinces of Ontario and Quebec are playing increasingly pivotal roles in overall visitation growth. “We’ve had strong, year-round air access from Western Canada for years, and that market continues to perform extremely well,” Esponda said. “What we’re seeing now is acceleration from the East. Direct flights from Toronto have delivered the biggest gains. Now, airlift from Montreal represents a growth opportunity as access continues to expand.”
Travel from Toronto to Los Cabos has increased by nearly 37% year-over-year, establishing it as the fastest-growing Canadian gateway. Meanwhile, Quebec’s momentum is rising, with enhanced Montreal service expanding awareness and demand for trips to Los Cabos.
Canada’s Exceptional Performance to Los Cabos
Canada has emerged as a leading international growth market for Los Cabos, continuously ranking as one of the destination’s fastest-growing international source markets. A recent announcement at the 2025 Los Cabos VIP Summit highlights projections of 240,000 Canadian arrivals by 2025, representing a 20% year-over-year increase and marking the strongest performance from Canada to date.
Direct flights are crucial in this burgeoning travel trend. Major airlines such as Air Canada, WestJet, and Sunwing Vacations participated in the summit, underscoring the significance of non-stop air service. Esponda remarked, “Canadians don’t want to connect through the U.S. The demand is already there, and we see it in the indirect travel numbers. Give them a direct flight, and they choose Los Cabos.”
The Canadian market is not only expanding but is also considered high-value. Travelers from Canada tend to stay an average of 10 nights in Los Cabos, nearly double the 5.7-night average recorded by U.S. visitors. This reflects significant potential for increased revenue and longer-stay tourism.
A Thriving Resort Scene in Los Cabos
Los Cabos’ resort scene is flourishing, with a focus that goes beyond traditional accommodations. Esponda stated, “What we’re building in Los Cabos goes beyond hotels. We’re creating a destination where travelers can easily transition between nature, culture, dining, and community—a holistic experience that today’s high-value traveler is seeking.”
As winter approaches, the influx of direct flights from eastern Canada is set to reinvigorate Los Cabos’ tourism sector, paving the way for what promises to be a remarkable season filled with unforgettable experiences for visitors. With the destination’s appeal growing, both seasoned travelers and newcomers are encouraged to consider Los Cabos as their next getaway.
