AmaWaterways is undergoing a significant leadership change as co-founder and long-time Executive Vice President, Kristin Karst, shifts roles within the company. Since its founding in 2002, Karst has been pivotal in shaping the brand alongside her husband, Rudi Schreiner, who will remain the CEO.
New Leadership at AmaWaterways
Effective February 17, 2025, Catherine Powell will step in as President. With over 15 years of experience at The Walt Disney Company and a recent tenure as the Global Head of Hosting at Airbnb, Powell brings a wealth of knowledge from the hospitality and entertainment sectors to AmaWaterways.
Kristin Karst’s New Role
In this transition, Karst will take on the role of Chief Brand Ambassador. Although stepping back from daily operational duties, she will continue as co-owner and co-founder. “I very much look forward to not only creating more awareness and forging relationships internationally, but to maintaining and strengthening our very important relationships with our travel trade partners who have always been at the heart of AmaWaterways,” Karst remarked.
Commitment to Exceptional Guest Experiences
In her new position, Powell expressed enthusiasm about joining AmaWaterways, stating, “The company’s commitment to exceptional guest experiences, innovation, and sustainability aligns perfectly with my own values and vision for the future of travel.” This focus on customer satisfaction is expected to be a central theme during her leadership tenure, as the company continues to grow and adapt to the evolving travel landscape.
