Intrepid Travel Expands Portfolio with Acquisition of Wild Bush Luxury
Intrepid Travel has officially acquired Wild Bush Luxury, incorporating its renowned luxury lodges, such as Arkaba Walk and Homestead in South Australia, and Bamurra Plains in the Northern Territory. This strategic move is designed to enhance Intrepid’s offerings in premium, nature-based experiences across Australia.
Wild Bush Luxury is known for its immersive guided walking tours, a key aspect of its appeal. Effective from February, these tours and lodges will become part of Intrepid’s diverse portfolio. Brett Mitchell, managing director of Intrepid Australia and New Zealand, stated, “Travelers are increasingly seeking meaningful ways to connect with land, wildlife, and culture. By expanding our portfolio with iconic guided walks and premium lodges, we’re offering experiences that immerse them in some of the country’s most extraordinary landscapes.”
Experience Co. Sells Wild Bush Luxury
The acquisition came after Experience Co. decided to divest Wild Bush Luxury. CEO John O’Sullivan indicated that the company aims to concentrate on its core marine, Treetops Adventure, and skydive/aviation businesses after evaluating its portfolio.
Intrepid’s 2026 Expansion Plans
In addition to the Wild Bush Luxury acquisition, Intrepid has revealed an ambitious expansion plan for 2026, unveiling over 100 new itineraries across more than 50 countries—the operator’s most extensive expansion to date. These itineraries include two new trip categories: Short Breaks, specifically developed for the American market, and Premium Walking and Trekking experiences, fueled by a noted 9% rise in active trip bookings for 2025.
Furthermore, Intrepid has seen a 15% increase in family bookings this year. In response, the operator has introduced 10 new family trips and initiated a children’s pricing policy that offers a 20% discount for kids aged 17 and younger.
Highlights of New Itineraries
Among the exciting new offerings, travelers can participate in the four-day Acatenango Volcano Hike and Antigua Short Break, which includes hiking Guatemala’s volcanoes and engaging in sustainable agriculture practices at a women-led farming project.
Additionally, the new Premium Walking and Trekking collection features a nine-day walking and hiking itinerary in Vietnam. This trip starts and ends in Hanoi, allowing adventurers to explore scenic tea plantations and rice terraces. Priced at $3,095, the trip includes accommodations at the Garrya Mu Cang Chai Eco Lodge and dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant.
With these new initiatives, Intrepid Travel is clearly positioned to meet the growing demand for authentic travel experiences that connect people with nature and cultures around the world. As the adventure travel landscape evolves, Intrepid’s strategic choices aim to enhance traveler engagement, making it an exciting time for those looking to explore.
