Asilia Africa is set to make its mark in Uganda with the introduction of Erebero Hills, an exquisite eight-suite lodge slated to open in mid-2026. Nestled on the northern fringe of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, this will be Asilia Africa’s inaugural investment in Uganda and its venture into the burgeoning mountain gorilla trekking industry.
Erebero Hills will encompass 45 acres of reforested terrain, providing guests unparalleled access to the prestigious Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to over half of the globe’s mountain gorilla population. Each suite will be meticulously designed to include private viewing decks with stunning forest vistas, outdoor showers, and bathtubs carefully positioned to capture the breathtaking landscape.
The main lodge will feature an array of lavish amenities such as a swimming pool and sun deck, a pool bar, a cozy sunken fireplace lounge, a library, and dedicated spa treatment facilities. Rates for this luxury experience will vary, ranging from $1,100 per person per night during the low season to $2,000 during peak season.
A Local Focus on Community Engagement
In a commendable initiative, Asilia Africa has collaborated with Change a Life Bwindi to engage local indigenous communities, specifically the Batwa and Bakiga. This partnership includes a commitment to plant 25,000 indigenous trees, creating a reforested buffer around the national park to expand wildlife habitats and support the local economy.
The architectural design of Erebero Hills, crafted by Pablo Luna Studios, ingeniously employs local materials, including bamboo, stone, and rammed earth. The lodge’s structure is thoughtfully adapted to the sloping terrain, featuring terraces and suspended elements that harmonize with the surrounding forest canopy.
Unique Activities and Wellness Programming
Guests at Erebero Hills can expect an array of activities centered around unforgettable gorilla trekking experiences. Additional offerings will include guided forest walks, visits to stunning waterfalls, and cultural tours showcasing the rich heritage of the Batwa community. Those interested in local agriculture can explore nearby tea plantations. The lodge will also offer wellness experiences such as forest bathing and garden tours, enhancing guest relaxation and rejuvenation.
