Tour operator G Adventures will resume Arctic itineraries in 2026 for the first time since 2019.
This announcement marks a significant development for G Adventures, as founder Bruce Poon Tip noted, “Our travelers and agent partners have been asking when we will return to the Arctic, and I’m delighted to say the time is now.” The tour operator will offer four Arctic itineraries featuring 10 departure dates, enticing adventure seekers eager to explore the unique landscapes and wildlife of the Arctic region.
As previously reported, G Adventures is chartering the 128-passenger Ocean Adventurer, a polar vessel that was previously utilized by Quark Expeditions. To honor its heritage, the ship will be renamed “Expedition,” a tribute to the earlier vessel that will no longer be in service for G Adventures. Notably, the new vessel is enhanced with improved fuel efficiency, aligning with sustainable travel practices.
Exciting Itineraries and Destinations
The Arctic itineraries will encompass various breathtaking destinations, including Svalbard, Iceland, and Greenland. In addition, G Adventures plans to unveil five more trips that will navigate through Scotland, the Faroe Islands, and Labrador in the coming weeks. The first journeys will begin in Antarctica this October, with the ship then heading north in the spring of next year.
Educational Experiences Onboard
During the Arctic voyages, passengers will benefit from the expertise of onboard professionals, including a marine biologist, ornithologist, geologist, and historian. G Adventures promises that the vessel will serve as a “floating classroom,” offering immersive educational experiences tailored for curious travelers. If weather conditions permit, daily excursions will be organized, ensuring guests have ample opportunities to explore exterior landscapes.
Featured Itineraries
The itinerary titled Realm of the Polar Bear provides a captivating eight-day journey through Norway’s Svalbard archipelago. Travelers will explore remarkable fjords and stand a chance of observing polar bears from a safe distance.
Another itinerary, the Arctic Highlights Southbound, spans 15 days and includes visits to the Northwest Spitsbergen National Park, the Greenland Sea, and the Northeast Greenland National Park. One of the highlights of this journey is a stop at the Ittoqqortoormiit settlement, where guests will gain insight into the lifestyle of this remote community.
Bookings for these Arctic cruises are currently open, and detailed itineraries with additional information will be released shortly. Adventure enthusiasts should act quickly to secure their spots for this much-awaited return to the Arctic.
