A new gem has opened its doors at the Calgary International Airport: the Aspire WestJet Lounge, launched on April 28 at the U.S. Transborder Terminal E Gates. This marks the inaugural partnership between Aspire Airport Lounges and WestJet.
The Aspire WestJet Lounge enhances the existing Aspire Transborder Lounge, introducing an additional 90 seats, accommodating up to 216 travelers. While WestJet passengers enjoy priority access, all travelers, regardless of airline or ticket class, can access the lounge for a fee.
Designed by the Canadian firm Menard Dworkind (MRDK), the lounge redefines the typical airport experience. With its abundant natural light and hundreds of tropical plants, the interior resembles a vibrant co-working space merged with an upscale restaurant, providing a soothing atmosphere for guests to unwind before their flights.

Jorge Da Silva, Head of Aspire Airport Lounges in North America, noted, “The idea was to create a calm and serene environment that addresses the daily demand we receive.” He further explained how the high ceilings and natural light led to the creation of an indoor garden, a first for Canada.
WestJet’s collaboration with Aspire aims to elevate the transborder terminal experience. “We’re devoted to providing a travel experience reflecting our spirit of care, warmth, and hospitality,” shared Jeff Hagen, WestJet’s VP of Commercial Developments and Strategic Partnerships, during the lounge launch.

This meticulously designed lounge caters to diverse traveler needs, featuring private work booths, social living room spaces, and restaurant-style tables. High-speed Wi-Fi, multiple charging stations, and shower facilities are available for guests.
Culinary Offerings by Renowned Chefs

A standout feature is the culinary offerings provided by the acclaimed CHAR Hospitality Group. Led by Chefs Connie de Souza and John Jackson, known for their celebrated restaurants CHARCUT and Charbar, the menu features local ingredients and flavors. This partnership began as a pop-up for the holiday season and has evolved into a permanent inclusion across all three Aspire Lounges at Calgary International Airport.
Guests can indulge in complimentary beverages and gourmet dishes, including CHARCUT’s signature cured meats, fresh pasta, crisp salads, and innovative vegetable-forward meals. The lounge currently serves lunch and dinner, with breakfast options slated for future menus at all Calgary Aspire locations.
