Four new pickleball courts have been introduced for Holland America Line guests as part of exciting renovations at Carnival Corp.’s RelaxAway at Half Moon Cay, a beautiful private island in the Bahamas.
The revitalization of Half Moon Cay also includes the addition of new cabanas and day beds, along with 500 extra beach chairs to enhance guest comfort. As part of continuous improvements, clamshell loungers will be added this month, with ongoing renovations to the iconic two-story villas set for winter completion. A new food pavilion is also expected to be finished in time for the upcoming summer season.
Pickleball: A Guest Favorite
Pickleball has rapidly become one of the most sought-after activities on Holland America Line ships. Michael Smith, the senior vice president of guest experience and product development for Holland America Line, noted the sport’s growing popularity among cruise guests.
Tournament Launch for Guests
To celebrate the launch of the new pickleball courts, a tournament was held on December 6, featuring guests from the Rotterdam and Eurodam. This event not only marked the inauguration of the courts but also provided an engaging opportunity for guests to connect and enjoy a friendly competition.
Recent Rebranding and Developments
Carnival Corp. made headlines last year by rebranding Half Moon Cay, adding “RelaxAway” to its name. This change reflects the company’s commitment to elevating the guest experience. The island is now divided into two distinct areas: one designated for Holland America Line guests and the other reserved for Carnival Cruise Line patrons. This strategic expansion aims to enhance service and amenities tailored to the preferences of each cruise line’s guests. As these upgrades unfold, Half Moon Cay continues to solidify its position as a premier destination for cruise passengers seeking relaxation and recreation in a stunning tropical setting.
