Ellis Island Casino & Hotel, a Las Vegas staple for nearly six decades, has recently unveiled the first phase of its $35 million expansion and renovation, substantially enhancing the guest experience.
The revitalized space has effectively doubled the casino floor area while introducing a variety of new features, including a bar, a high-limit gaming section, and Boomer’s Sportsbook. Additionally, The Deck, a stunning rooftop bar offering panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip, has commenced operations this month.
“This initial phase allows us to showcase a refreshed aesthetic and gaming floor that enhances the property while staying true to our historical roots and values,” stated Gary Ellis, the owner of Ellis Island Casino.
Exciting New Additions at Ellis Island Casino
The newly designed casino floor features elegant marble columns, stylish wooden finishes, luxury carpeting, expansive windows with automatic shades, a sparkling chandelier, and unique artworks. The Center Bar, boasting 25 seats equipped with bar-top gaming options, is complemented by a 50-foot by 11-foot LED screen, creating a vibrant focal point.
Aside from the new high-limit gaming area, the casino now encompasses 35,000 square feet, featuring an expanded gaming pit and a plethora of new slot machines. Popular dining venues like Via Focaccia and Metro Pizza have also reopened their doors, adding to the overall experience.

According to Suzanne Steelman Taylor, vice president of strategy at Steelman Partners, the architectural firm behind the renovation, “This expansion focuses on fostering energy and connection in an inviting atmosphere that enhances the property’s legacy while introducing exciting new experiences. Every detail was meticulously crafted to engage our guests and provide a dynamic and refreshing environment.”
The Deck bar, situated atop the new casino expansion near Koval Lane, offers a prime location to enjoy events such as the Formula 1 Heineken Las Vegas Grand Prix and the iconic New Year’s Eve fireworks. Seasonal cocktails, including the Full Deck—crafted with Elijah Craig bourbon, Luxardo Del Santo liqueur, lime, and simple syrup—are available, alongside a menu featuring flatbreads, charcuterie, and seasonal specials.
Future Developments at Ellis Island
The expansion project isn’t complete yet; a further refresh of the remaining portion of the casino floor is set to wrap up by the end of this year. Throughout the renovations, popular spots like the Village Pub & Cafe and the Front Yard, an indoor-outdoor beer garden serving craft beers, will continue to operate, ensuring that guests can enjoy their favorite amenities during the transformation.
