Disney Cruise Line has officially announced a delay in the launch of its much-anticipated Singapore-based vessel, the Disney Adventure. Originally set to make its debut on December 15, the ship’s maiden voyage has now been pushed back to March 10 due to unforeseen complications in the shipbuilding process.
In a communication sent to customers, Disney articulated, "This ship represents a bold new chapter for Disney Cruise Line as we transform a partially built vessel into a fully reimagined Disney experience at sea." The company emphasized the necessity of ensuring every aspect of the ship aligns with the high standards expected from the Disney brand, leading to the challenging decision to reschedule the launch.
The Disney Adventure was initially being constructed as the Global Dream for Dream Cruises under the ownership of Genting Hong Kong. Following Genting’s bankruptcy in 2022, Disney acquired the ship from liquidators. The construction has since continued at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, adapted to meet new specifications provided by Disney and rebranded as the Disney Adventure.
Earlier this month, the ship successfully completed its initial sea trials, marking a significant milestone in its development.
Guest Accommodation and Refund Policies
Disney has announced generous accommodations for guests booked on the original maiden voyage. Those affected will be automatically transferred to the new departure date on March 10 and offered a 50% discount on their fare. If clients are unable to sail on this new date, they have the option to request a full refund and still be eligible for a 50% discount on a future cruise.
For guests with reservations on other canceled cruises, refunds will be automatically processed back to their original payment methods. Additionally, they will receive a 50% discount on future sailings, which must be utilized by March 31, 2027, for trips scheduled before that date.
