From August 14 to 22, Transat partnered with Jumbo Tours to host a group of 20 Canadian travel advisors on an immersive familiarization tour of its newly introduced offerings in Peru. This initiative is aimed at enhancing the advisors’ understanding of the destination while highlighting the exceptional experiences available through Transat.
The adventure began with a direct flight from Toronto to Lima, where participants embarked on a well-curated itinerary based on Transat’s popular Magical Peru guided tour, showcasing the diverse culture and stunning landscapes of the country.
Exploring Peruvian Culture and Cuisine
As the advisors arrived in Lima, they were introduced to the rich flavors of Peruvian gastronomy. Their culinary journey included a visit to the bustling San Isidro market, followed by hands-on experience in a culinary workshop at Guarguero restaurant, where they learned to prepare the iconic dish ceviche and the classic pisco sour cocktail.

A Scenic Journey Through History
The tour continued with a guided walking expedition through some of Lima’s historical highlights, including the Presidential Palace, Lima Cathedral, and the Rafael Larco Museum. This immersive experience allowed advisors to grasp the rich history and architectural grandeur of the capital city.
Subsequently, the group flew to Cusco—known for its breathtaking views while flying over the Andes. In Cusco, the advisors visited an alpaca farm to learn about the process of creating Peru’s renowned textiles, further deepening their appreciation for local craftsmanship.
Exploring Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu
The itinerary included a visit to the Sacred Valley, where advisors explored the renowned Maras salt flats, the ruins of Pisac, and the fascinating agricultural terraces of Moray. They also toured Ollantaytambo, one of the best-preserved Inca cities that provides a unique glimpse into ancient Incan civilization.
Independent travel consultant Caezar ‘Chachie’ Flores remarked, “Machu Picchu is more than just a World Heritage site; it’s a journey into the heart of an ancient civilization. You can feel the echoes of the past in every stone. It’s a must-see for anyone who wants to connect with history and marvel at this awe-inspiring wonder.”
The experience culminated in a guided tour of Cusco, offering some leisure time to absorb the grandeur of the colonial city. Josée Morin, Owner and Travel Manager at TravelOnly Sudbury, noted, “While the sites like Machu Picchu were highlights, it was the passion and expertise of the Jumbo Tours guides that truly impressed me. I’m confident our clients will be in excellent hands.”
This comprehensive tour by Transat not only provided valuable insights into Peru’s cultural and historical gems but also equipped travel advisors with the essential knowledge to inspire future travelers to embark on their own adventures in this extraordinary destination.
