Air Canada Vacations (ACV) recently celebrated its 50th anniversary with an extravagant gathering in Cancun, Mexico, welcoming over 350 partners and travel professionals to a three-night event across nine luxurious resorts. The festivities kicked off on November 4 with chartered flights from Toronto and Montreal, alongside a regular service from Vancouver, bringing an enthusiastic crowd together for this landmark occasion.
Travel agents and industry insiders were greeted with ACV-branded bucket hats and tote bags as part of the celebratory experience. Erminia Gallina, ACV’s Director of Sales, addressed guests from the aircraft’s PA system shortly after reaching cruising altitude, expressing excitement about the senior leadership team’s participation in the event. She emphasized their commitment to ensuring every attendee feels valued throughout the celebration.
With over 700 travel professionals registered, the event offered party spots priced at $499, highlighting an eagerness within the industry to connect and network. First-time visitor Jennifer Palmer, a travel advisor with Airliners who recently transitioned from nursing, remarked on her motivations for attending, expressing her enthusiasm for exploring potential new properties.
Open Jaw is stationed at the Bahia Principe Grand Tulum, while others find accommodations at notable resorts including Hotel Xcaret Arte, Dreams Natura Resort & Spa, and Grand Palladium Kantenah. In a statement, ACV Vice President Nino Montagnese highlighted the significance of gathering advisors in one place, underscoring the strength of community and passion for travel shared among attendees.
As the celebration unfolds, each resort group will engage in a variety of activities leading up to the “One Golden Celebration” on November 6 at Grand Velas Riviera Maya. This highlight of the event aims to attract around 450 guests and features a trade show showcasing over 40 suppliers. Attendees will don themed attire of red, black, and white with gold accents for a beachside gala dinner.
Throughout the event, participants enjoy a blend of learning and networking opportunities alongside leisure time. The Open Jaw group has already participated in a vibrant welcome dinner, albeit relocated due to inclement weather. Scheduled activities include a sales seminar and site inspections of additional premium properties such as Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal.
Area Sales Managers Dianne Pedroso and Bruce Parkinson are serving as hosts, ensuring that delegates get the most out of their experience. Pedroso warmly welcomed the group, emphasizing the importance of both enjoyment and learning during their stay.
As part of the celebrations, a specially crafted ACV birthday cake was featured, celebrating the significant milestone of 50 years in the industry. Pedroso encouraged participants to review their itineraries, which balance work commitments with leisure time to fully appreciate the beauty and offerings of the Cancun region.
This remarkable 50th anniversary celebration not only signifies a major milestone for Air Canada Vacations but also represents a commitment to fostering connections within the travel community. For more details about Air Canada Vacations and future events, visit their official website.
