Breeze Airways has reached a significant milestone by receiving FAA certification to operate internationally.
In a recent announcement made on September 25, Breeze Airways revealed its intention to launch international flights starting in January. The airline plans to gradually introduce several low-frequency routes, initially focusing on popular destinations such as Cancun, Montego Bay in Jamaica, and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
According to Breeze founder and CEO David Neeleman, “Becoming a U.S. flag carrier is a huge milestone for Breeze, and one that our team members have been working tirelessly on for the last three years.”
Launch of International Routes
The inaugural international route for Breeze Airways will commence on January 7, connecting Norfolk, Virginia, to Cancun with weekly Saturday service. Later in January and into February, the airline plans to introduce additional flights from Charleston, South Carolina, New Orleans, and Providence, Rhode Island, all heading to Cancun.
Montego Bay and Punta Cana Services
Further expanding its international offerings, Breeze is set to begin flights to Montego Bay from Tampa starting on February 11. This service will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays, complemented by additional flights from Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, featuring Thursday and Sunday service beginning March 5. The Punta Cana route will also kick off on March 5, with flights operating from Raleigh every Thursday and Sunday.
Booking and Seasonal Details
Travelers can now book these routes directly on the Breeze website. The Providence-Cancun service will conclude for the season on April 25, while the remaining routes are available for booking through May, with expectations of continued service into the summer season, as indicated by Breeze spokeswoman, McKinnley Matson.
Aircraft and Crew Base Developments
Breeze will operate its international flights using the Airbus A220-300 aircraft, which feature a single cabin layout equipped with the airline’s first-class-style Ascent seats, alongside extra-legroom and standard economy seats. To support its growing international operations, Breeze also plans to establish a crew base in Raleigh-Durham early next year.
With these new international routes, Breeze Airways aims to enhance travel options for passengers while capitalizing on the growing demand for leisure travel to Caribbean destinations.
