MONTREAL — Montreal-Trudeau Airport has unveiled what is arguably its most stunning lounge to date. The newly opened Aspire Executive Lounge, in partnership with American Express, is set to transform the travel experience at YUL.
Conveniently located in the domestic terminal post-security, this lounge is a first for domestic travelers, providing an inclusive space for all regardless of airline.
While primarily catering to American Express cardholders, access can also be purchased for $60 per adult and $40 per child, making it accessible to a broader audience.
Unique Design and Atmosphere
The lounge is designed to reflect Montreal’s exquisite culinary culture, with a boutique hotel ambiance aimed at offering travelers a serene and refined experience. “It’s a privileged place to relax, recharge, and enjoy Montreal hospitality at its finest,” say the designers from Artesa, the firm behind its architectural vision.
Spanning 3,700 square feet, the lounge features exceptionally high ceilings and large glass façades that flood the space with natural light. This artistic arrangement is complemented by the notable works of Montreal photographer Nicolas Ruel.
Local Flavors and Culinary Offerings
This lounge not only emphasizes luxury but also integrates local culture. Travelers can begin their visit with a specialty coffee from Café Saint-Henri, a beloved local roaster known for its meticulously crafted brews.
The bar, featuring creations from the acclaimed Cloakroom Bar (one of North America’s top cocktail spots), offers exclusive cocktail options inspired by its original menu.
The menu also showcases delights from Édouard et Léo, a local butcher shop dedicated to sustainable and high-quality ingredients, alongside iconic Montréal fare such as Saint-Viateur bagels with smoked salmon.
A Unique Dining Experience
Unlike typical airport lounges which often provide self-serve buffets, the Aspire/Amex Lounge offers a curated three-course dining experience. For passengers in rush, takeout options are also available.
With operational hours from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., the lounge accommodates up to 100 guests in both its dining and bar areas and features various seating arrangements including private booths and workstations, enhancing both comfort and functionality.
Milestone for Canadian Travel
This lounge marks the first full-service offering in YUL’s domestic terminal, as well as the debut co-branded lounge in Canada from American Express.
“American Express is committed to delivering exceptional travel experiences,” said Kim Kuzmak, Vice President at American Express Canada. “This lounge partnership exemplifies our dedication to providing our cardholders with enhanced access and a superior travel journey.”
Run by Aspire Executive Lounges, a part of Swissport International, this impressive establishment is amongst around 100 lounges they manage worldwide, serving approximately six million guests annually.
Future Expansion Plans
With the success in Montreal, Aspire is looking to expand its operations, hinting at similar projects, including a new lounge at Calgary Airport that will follow the Montreal model, according to Jorge Da Silva, head of lounge operations for North America at Aspire.
