Ponant Explorations Group is set to enhance its offerings in French Polynesia by adding a second ship for the winter season of 2026-27.
The new addition, Le Jacques Cartier, will join the well-known m/s Paul Gauguin in the region, operating from October 2026 through February 2027. This marks the inaugural season for the ship in the stunning waters of French Polynesia.
Exciting Itineraries from Papeete
Le Jacques Cartier will operate three unique 14-night itineraries, all departing round trip from Papeete, Tahiti. Each journey promises a distinct adventure:
- One itinerary will explore the beautiful Austral Islands.
- Another route will feature the legendary Pitcairn Island.
- The third will offer visits to the enchanting Marquesas Islands and the splendid Society Islands.
Onboard Experience
Le Jacques Cartier boasts an impressive configuration with 88 staterooms and suites, offering guests a comfortable and luxurious experience during their voyage. The ship also features an onboard marina, allowing for various water sports activities and close encounters with the breathtaking natural environments of the region.
A New Perspective on Exploration
According to Samuel Chamberlain, CEO of the Americas, “While the m/s Paul Gauguin continues to define immersive, year-round discovery in the region, the winter deployment of Le Jacques Cartier brings a new perspective — more remote and more expeditionary.” This transition highlights Ponant’s commitment to delivering unique and enriching travel experiences.
With the introduction of Le Jacques Cartier to their fleet in French Polynesia, Ponant aims to cater to travelers looking for more adventurous and less traversed paths, solidifying its reputation as a leader in luxury ocean expeditions.
